BOARDWALK TAVERN

 On the 16h February 80 Probus members from 12Gold Coast Clubs, attended the first outing for 2024. for lunch at Boardwalk Tavern Hope Island..

Mystery bus trip on 16th March 2024

8 clubs were represented when 48 Probians went on the first day trip for 2024. Uncertain where they were going the day held many surprises. Clubs who supported the day were Varsity Lakes, Robina Parks, Nerang, Mudgeeraba, Ashmore/Benowa, Runaway Bay Paradise Point and Nth Gold Coast.

3rd Stop:

Lunch at Chatwood Hill Tavern. A new and very pleasant Venue. Good choices for all appetites, with good service.

2nd Stop 

Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum

Many reflected on the past while roaming through the many restored homes and spotting many recognisable items 

 Final stop at Daisy Hill Koala Centre where many photos were taken by excited  Probians.

Visitors heard a very informative and interesting talk from a young volunteer, who is studying to be a wild life nurse.

Cross River Rail 
19th April 2024

Another fully booked successful tour (50+from various  clubs.)this time to Brisbane Cross River Rail Information Hub where morning tea was enjoyed. Information about the progress of the tunnels and the new stations for Brisbane and Gold Coast line  explained. This was  followed by a 2 course lunch at Breakfast Creek Hotel  

High Tea at Preece House
14th June 2024

Preece House is located at 48 Nerang Street Nerang.  Members enjoyed a wonderful selection of Savories, Scones and Sweets, Tea and Coffee and sparkling wine.

Hi tea at Preese huse was enjoyed by 25 Probus Members from Ashmore, Mudgeeraba, Varsity Lakes, Runaway Bay, Paradise Point and Paradise Point.

On arrival we vsisted the adjoining Nerang Visitors Information Centre/Ceramic House which is a museum and Photogtaphis Heritage Gallery. Derick gave us a guided tour/commentary at ceramic House before we moved to Preece House where he explained the wonderful Photos that covered the Walls.  

 

Preece House is run by volunteers who do all the catering. 

A good time was had by all,

Tweed Valley Cheese Farmhouse
                      31st June 2024

More than 50 Probus Members from various Gold Coast Clubs travelled to Burringbah NSW for a visit to the Tweed Valley Cheese Farm.  Upon arrival they were greeted by Staff who gave a short history of the farm.

During the visit  Members had a chance to get up and personal with some of the residents.

Members enjoyed a tasting of several cheeses produced on the farm before having devonshire tea or coffee.

Many commented on the size and taste of the scones.

A very enjoyable visit.

However many were disappointed that there was very little product to purchase to take home

Members than traveled a short distant to Cabaritta Bowls club for lunch.

Mystery Bus Trip
21st June 2024

On June 21st 48 Probus Members from 8 Gold Coast Probus Clubs travelled to an unknown destination for a 2nd Mystery tour. Many had missed out on the first Mystery tour and were given first opportunity to the 2nd trip. Leaving the Gold Coast heading south many tried to guess the final destination without much luck. After stoppig at Brunswick Heads we headed further south to Altstonville and finally our destination became clear. We were travelling to  Summerland House Farm.

Summerland Farm is a 238 acre Macadamia and Avocado workng farm providing employment for over 100  people with disability. Formally known as House with no Steps

 Members served a two course Lunch comprising of either Chicken Schnitzel or Barramundi

followed by Peach Cake and cream, tea or coffee 

​

Some of the beautiful gardens and waterfalls at Summerlnd Farm .

Visitors  can wander through the Product Market and purchase local produce

All ready for lunch and a maybe a wine to be served by the very friendly staff.

Lovely  and unusal gifts available in the very smart Gift Shop 

Members check out the Galloway Cows annd other farm animals ar Summerland

CHRISTMAS IN JULY 2024

Arundel Tavern was transformed  to look very festive for the Annual GC&NR Assoc, Christmas in July Lunch 

Christmas in July was held at the Arundel Tavern where nearly 100 Probians representing 11 Gold Coast Clubs had a very "jolly time".  Traditional 2 course

Chistmas lunch was served and enjoyed by all. Another very well attended  GC&NR event. 

Arundel Tavern proved a good choice and many look forward to returning, as club outings 

Guests were thrilled with the many raffle prizes on offer and had a hard time choosing. 

Guests enjoy the very "merry" and Festive atmosphere 

Entertainment from Jack Watson

who once again added the Christmas theme to his list.

SEAWORLD BUFFET CRUISE

Althougth only a few Members (18) attended the Seaworld Seafood Buffet Cruise it proved to be another successful day. The weather was perfect for cruising the Gold Coast water way.

After a early start from Gold Coast the full bus proceeded to Malburg for a very welcome Morning tea stop before heading off to Picnic Point and then on to Queens Park

Members then traveled to the Blue Mountains Hotel in Harlaxton for a 2 course lunch.

After lunch Members traveled to Laurel Bank Park to view more floral displays

This year the Japanese Garden at UniSQ was an added attraction before returning home.

Another successful Gold Coast & Northern Rivers outing but a very long day

PROBUS DAY 
4th October 2024

Something a little different this year.

Eighty Probarians from 10 Gold Coast and Northern Rivers Clubs traveled to Carrara Croatian Club for a Hawaiian Theme Day. Many dressed up for the day

Members had a change to mingle and meet other Club Members in a very friendly atmosphere

Special activity for the day was a lesson in Line Dancing with many of the Members tryng for the first time.

Special Visitor for the day was  local MP Meaghan Scanlon who judged the best decorated table and also help with sponsorship.

Best decorated table was from Paradise Point Probus who really got into the Hawaiian aTheme

Members enjoyed a fun game removing pegs with one hand for a bit of fun during the morning

A great day of Friendship, Fellowship and Fun 

Final tour for 2024 Mt Glorious/Fernvale 29th November 2024
 

After pickups, 57 Probians from 9 Gold Coast clubs set off on last bus trip for 2024.  The day started fine on the coast but unfortunately weather closed in on Mt Glorious.

Because of road conditions tour had to be done in reverse, which meant morning tea and Lunch were before heading up to Mt. Glorious.

Some decided to buy lunch from the Old Fernvale Bakery

`Lunch was also available from the Fernvale Cafe.

Most Members gathered in the cool cafe to enjoy lunch together.

Ice Cream Stop at SouthBank Brisbane before heading home  

Unfortunately due to the weather closing in on the top of Mt Glorious we were unable to view the valley but the drive through the thick rainforest was worth the trip. Once again a successful GC&NR tour.
